General
Antiparos is located very close to Paros from which it is separated by a narrow water strip. A graphic small island with white houses built around the Venetian castle, paved streets, and old churches, beautiful beaches with clear blue waters, the caves and the curious geological shapes.
Capital of the island and unique village, is Antiparos.
It is the only populated island among a cluster of other smaller islets: Despotiko, Reymatonisi, Koimitiri, Strogilo, Kavouras, Saliangas, Kokkinos and Mavros Toyrlos.
In the antiquity it was named Oliaros and it is considered that its first residents were Phoenics.
In Despotiko were revealed cemeteries of the first Cycladic era as well as parts of buildings, temples, vessels etc. It is considered that the island was populated until the 17th century.
