In the prefecture

• Seven kilometres from Preveza is the archaeological site of Nikopoli in an area of 9.000 acres on the peninsula of Preveza. Nikopoli was founded by the Roman emperor Oktavianos in recollection of his victory against Antonios and Cleopatra, in the naval battle of Aktio the 31 B.C. Nikopolis was a big transport and commercial centre at the duration of the Roman conquest but declined after the attacks of barbaric tribes. Today on the site are saved Roman and Byzantine walls of the city, the Conservatoire, several Roman buildings, the monument Oktavianos August built after the naval battle in Aktio, Nymfaio, the theatre and Byzantine churches with beautiful mosaics.

• the Monument in Zaloggo where in 1803 the women of Souli after being chased by the Turks preferred to die by falling down a cliff than to fall in the hands of Ali Pasha.

• the Monastery of St Dimitrios (13th century) in Kypseli.

• the castle in Riza

• the archaeological site of Nekyomanteion (Oracle of the Dead). Here the ancient placed the Gates of the Under World that led to the kingdom of Hades. In the sanctum resorted the ancient, with offers to the dead in order to communicate with the souls and get various information, after suitable preparation in which they were submitted by the priests of the Oracle.

• the "Sources of Aheronta", a beautiful region with plane trees and crystal waters, near Glyki.
