Sikinos

An island of South Cyclades that is located between Folegandros and Ios. Its extent reaches the 45,5 sq Km and belongs to Cyclades prefecture.

Sikinos is a mountainous island and its highest peaks are Troulos (620m), Aghios Mamas (526m), Aghia Marina (465m).

The island was inhabited by the Ionians and in 425 BC it was an Athenian vassal state. During Roman and Byzantine Ages it was an exile place. During Frank occupation it became part of the Duchy of Naxos. From 1537 to 1821 it was under Turkish administration.
